In 1937, the small farming town of Southbury (between Waterbury and Danbury) was confronted with the news that the German American Bund wanted to build their largest training and indoctrination camp on 175 acres of land that they had purchased.  Although the story of what happened was largely forgotten, a documentary film, Home of the Brave: When Southbury Said NO to the Nazis, premiered in 2012 that brought that story to national attention, including a prominent position within the original USHMM exhibit “Americans and the Holocaust” that opened in April 2018. 

Ed Edelson, former First Selectman of Southbury and a leading member of the committee that conceived of the documentary will host a screening of Home of the Brave: When Southbury Said NO to the Nazis and a subsequent documentary.  He will answer questions about the documentary project and moderate a discussion about the film.
